The goal of this project was twofold. The first goal was to review theoretical conceptions and research findings related to the construct of shame and its influences on youth during adolescence. The second goal was to provide a comprehensive manual for mental health professionals who treat adolescent clients that struggle with shame and its detrimental influence on their behavior, identity, and relationships. Based on the review of the literature, a training curriculum was developed to be used for agency in-service training, continuing education, or as a basis for consultation services.
