The Encountering Islam Initiative primarily focuses on educational opportunities for the University of St. Thomas and wider community to learn more about Islam, and for theologians in both faiths to engage in theological exchange. Our major annual event, the Terence Nichols Memorial Symposium, provides opportunities for students and the public to learn from a scholar of Islam. Additionally, we aim to create teaching tools for St. Thomas faculty, and we collaborate with the Jay Phillips Center for Interreligious Studies to create programs aiding in Muslim-Christian relations.
