Annotation
Traces the “historiographical” myth and transformation of the Lost Generation through Malcolm Cowley’s Exile Return (1934; 1951), F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Crack-Up (1945), Hemingway’s A Moveable Feast. Argues that all three men were born into privilege and witnessed the birth of the modernist era but wrote their memoirs based on a borrowed plot structure rather than true eyewitness accounts.
