Le Torero and "The Undefeated": Hemingway’s Foray into Analytical Cubism
Argues that Hemingway’s story is modeled after Le Torero, Juan Gris’s cubist rendering of a bullfight. Plath examines Hemingway’s cubist techniques, especially his use of multiple perspectives in conjunction with variations of seeing to create simultaneous degrees of distance and intimacy in the story.
