Annotation
Source study. Reads “Cat in the Rain” as a sociological retelling of Zimbabwe author Dambudzo Marechera’s “The House of Hunger,” exploring thematic interconnections of failed communication, emotional isolation, and female oppression. Concludes that unlike Hemingway’s narrative where characters have the luxury of indirectly addressing their marital discord through symbolic appropriation of their environment, Marechera’s characters must directly deal with their problems.
