Annotation

Drawing from A Moveable Feast, Heller describes Hemingway’s winters in Schruns, noting his affinity for pre-commercialized skiing. Heller also notes the importance of Schruns for Hemingway, both as a place of nostalgia and sadness, due to the dissolution of his first marriage. Comments on the influence of this painful period on the autobiographical and tragic undertones of “An Alpine Idyll.”
