Bent Hemingway: Straightness, Sexuality, Style
Document Type
Article
Annotation
Challenges Western culture’s assumption that Hemingway’s clear and simple style reflects his heteromasculine sexual identity. St. Pierre surveys critical opinion on the sexual politics of Hemingway’s life and works and calls for a reappraisal of the author’s seemingly straightforward style, arguing that it is remarkably stylized as evidenced in In Our Time and The Sun Also Rises.
