Annotation
Draws on culinary theory in her consideration of the relationship between gastronomy, hospitality, and Hemingway’s writing in his Paris memoirs, contending that food is the lens through which he presents memories. Though typically a window to the domestic, Stamant holds that in Hemingway’s case the culinary represents public space due to his affinity for cafés. Argues that this public space as home-space impacts Hemingway’s writing as he negotiates his role as host to inquiring visitors.
