Irene and Ernest: A Love Story?
Examines the relationship between Hemingway and Irene Goldstein from Petoskey, Michigan whom Hemingway dated as a young man and later corresponded with even as he courted Hadley. Discusses their correspondence and belated Petoskey reunion after twenty-six years, contending that Hemingway remained infatuated with Irene all his life. Ends by noting Hemingway’s incessant need to be in love.
