Close reading of the “Author’s Notes” to readers critiquing his early mentors, the nature of authorship, and the publishing industry. Tangedal concludes that with these experimental intertextual elements Hemingway could mimic Sherwood Anderson’s authorial persona while simultaneously satirizing it.
