Comparison study of each author’s thematic treatment of sexual ambivalence considering their sexual experiences and sociosexual norms of their eras. Interprets their views on alternative sexuality through explication of allusions to fiction, art, and music permeating their stories. Concludes that while Paul’s homosexuality is biologically and psychologically fixed, Nick’s orientation is fluid and determined by choice.
