Title
Hemingway’s Constructed Africa: Green Hills of Africa and the Conventions of Colonial Sporting Books
Document Type
Book Chapter
Annotation
Comparison study of African books in Hemingway’s collection to Green Hills of Africa. Contends that despite Hemingway’s vilification of earlier safari books and expressed intention to surpass them in honesty and verisimilitude, he draws heavily upon the genre’s themes and conventions such as the sportsmen’s rules for hunting.
