Psychoanalytical approach to episodes of transvestic metamorphoses found in Across the River and into the Trees, Islands in the Stream, The Garden of Eden, and True at First Light, arguing that in each instance the male protagonist, after experiencing heterosexual sodomy, undergoes a momentary hallucinatory transformation into a ‘girl.’
