Hemingway and Gender: Biography Revisited
Document Type
Article
Annotation
Draws on recent biographies in his analysis of Hemingway’s treatment of gender and sexuality. Argues that the postmodern acknowledgement of the writer’s androgyny has debunked the exaggerated myth of his masculinity and opened discussion on the plurality of gender identities found in his works. Considers The Garden of Eden, “A Natural History of the Dead,” and “The Last Good Country.”
