Comments on Hemingway’s dealings with Saunders, author of the novel Single Lady (1931), which was widely regarded as an imitation of The Sun Also Rises. Concludes that though Hemingway paid little attention to Saunders’s novel, he took notice when the movie production of his imitator’s novel reduced his own potential revenue from the sale of the rights to The Sun Also Rises.
