Stories in the Land: Digital "Deep Maps" of Hemingway Country
Document Type
Book Chapter
Annotation
Discusses their development of a multimedia digital map of Hemingway’s Idaho experiences and travels within the context of the author’s own construction of deep maps (geographical descriptions layered with physical, sensory, cultural, and personal details) in his fiction and nonfiction. Concludes that such digital immersion helps students and others to more fully understand and appreciate Hemingway’s geographical aesthetic. Offers suggestions for expanding the tool to other Hemingway locales (both biographical and fictional).
