Annotation

Influence study arguing for Byron’s omnipresence in Death in the Afternoon. Tyler draws parallels between the authors’ lives and the two works, arguing that many of their stylistic and thematic similarities, including the human need for a hero and rejection of conservatism projected by both onto their audiences, are the result of Hemingway’s affinity for the writing and philosophy of his romantic predecessor.
