Annotation
Argues that Hemingway’s writing, despite his criticism of cinema, was influenced by film technique. Provides an overview of American filmmaking and film adaptation of the author’s works, including The Sun Also Rises, A Farewell to Arms, To Have and Have Not, and The Old Man and the Sea. Concludes that none of Hollywood’s attempts to translate Hemingway’s writings has surpassed the literature itself.
